Compatibility

For a first time buyer/user I keep weighing getting a new kit (black chassis) or purchasing a used kit (mostly creme chassis) and was wondering the compatibility issues between the two.

Mainly in that did anything change in the design of the modules currently being made, as opposed to ones that were made a few years ago that would affect either being used with one another?

My situation is most likely going in the direction of getting an older creme chassis with one or two in it and building off of that, was just curious how easy it would be to upgrade should i purchase any new/assembled kits direct from you.

The modules work in both the old and new chassis.
