j8 resistance question

hi, I just assembled my j-99 kit--after doing the preliminary double checking of resistors, diodes, capacitors, etc., i tried to check the resistance across 1&2 and 3&2 on j8--what i got was strange & i'm not sure if i should move on...basically my dmm read around 1980 at 2000k but went to 1 after about a second. this happened across 1&2 & 3&2. Is this evidence of a 'blatant short' or is it an acceptable reading?

It's probably fine, but you should read your DMM manual to be sure of what it's trying to tell you.
