I don't know anything about oscilloscopes.

Will the HP 1222A oscilloscope work for the N72??

Should work fine. If you're actually going to buy one, however, I'd look for 50MHz to 100MHz bandwidth. There are so many good used analog scopes out there that the difference in price for a considerably better unit is small.
