What is a good soldering iron to buy? Mine just died. It was given to me by my father long ago. Not sure what to buy now. Need something decent if I'm going to be building one of these pres.

thanks,

Best buy I could find

Here is the one that I bought and it's been great. More than enough power for the big items, and good temperature control. I bought 1 spare tip, some different size tips and a spare heating element up front to save shipping on a 2nd purchase, but the original tip and heater are still working fine. So far we've done the case and 8 pre-amps with the original setup without any sign of erosion or wear.

perfect!

thanks for the information. I've been looking around online. I also have to run into two today. I'm going to stop by Home Depot and Lowes Hardware to see what they have too.

thanks again,
