Analog Summing.

wouldn't the seventh circle chassis, power supply and two N72's make for a great 12 channel summing mixer?

If you loaded the chassis with two pre's of your choice. and added XLR inputs on the back.

You could aslo add stereo TRS jacks on the front, and some DPDT switches on the for each pair. It would be really easy to wire them up and be able to switch between using the inputs as either mono or stereo. and send each side to the Pres for make up gain.

I've seen a pretty cheap pcb online for 10$ for a diy passive summing box that could be used.

Good idea, bad idea?

FWIW - I use a Folcrom RMS216 and have used the N72 as makeup gain for it on several occations with great success!! I love saturating the transformers and adjusting the output level to avoid clipping, etc... Those Folcrom units are cheap n work really well...
