Intermittent Power Failure

Postby joneric13 » Sun Jun 13, 2010 1:31 pm

Hey All,

The PS03 in my unit loaded with 8 C84's went on the fritz during a session yesterday. While in use (all 8 channels not using phantom power) made an ramping click/beep sound I could here through the monitors and then shut down. When I power it up now the power pulses on and off in a steady rhythmic pattern. The unit was not noticeably hot. Any ideas of what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you disconnect some or all of the modules?

I've traced the power failure back to the module in the channel #8 slot. With that one disconnected from the harness the power indicator stays solidly lit. The wires to the 6 pin adapter all seem to be firmly seated in the plug. Any advice on troubleshooting the module?

So just to be clear, if only module #8 is connected, you still get the same symptom?

Sorry for the delayed response, we must be on opposite schedules.

Well, Now it is behaving different. I tried only module #8 and the symptom did not occur. So I started plugging them back in, in reverse order from #8 and the pulsing did not start until Channel #3. From there I tried 2 & 1 unplugged and the pulsing continued. Then I plugged them all in and the symptom disappeared. Powered cycled it and now it's back and I didn't change anything. ?? I'm perplexed.

OK. I have all except module #8 plugged in and it is staying powered on. It's been on for about 5 minutes.. no pulsing.

Probably the best thing to do is send in the PS03 and module #8 so we can have a look at both. Send an e-mail to rma@seventhcircleaudio.com for return instructions.
