Step 35: Hot components, High U1 Voltage SOLVED

Postby sjnair » Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:29 am

Having some trouble with last step.

R25 and R29 adjusted to +-18V.
Powered up, adjusted R16 down to 0V.
Waited 15 minutes.
Reading -14V between Pin 4 and 6.
SC25, heat sinks, output transformer really hot
Burned thumb
Powered down.

I was having a hard time getting a steady reading between Pin 4 and 6, so I soldered wires to the pins, which resulted in the -14V reading. I noticed the LED at D1 on the pre was pulsing, not sure if this indicates anything. I have another SC25 I could put in and test, but wanted to ask for some feedback first. Most similar situations on this board seem to have been caused by bad op-amps, is it safe to try the other one out?

Thanks,

Seiji

I switched out the opamp with the SC25 out of my other kit, and now everything works fine.
