2 T15's or C84's in a 1ru rack...or???

Postby thirteenblack » Fri Sep 28, 2007 10:43 am

Hello all.

Here is my dilema.

I have a rack of 8 SCA pre's already. I love them.

I need 2 more. I'm thinking about trying to rack 2 pres into a 1ru unit. When you put together an SCA chassis, psu etc..the discounts almost make it worth it...even if only doing 2.
I could do 2 T-15's with all the stuff I need (your psu, chassis, etc) for under 500 bucks.

However, what do I do with the 6 other slots? I want to move into eq's and comps in the future.

I've seen talk on this board of something that will satisfy 500 rack users. I don't know if that means you have an adaptor that will make 500 stuff work with the current chassis. OR; if future versions of your pres will work in 500 racks. OR, if you have a new chassis in the works that will fit your current pres and 500 modules. OR...something cool that I haven't thought of.

If I buy the current chassis and 2 preamps right now; is there a chance your new modules in the future might fit this? I'm asking cause I'll have 6 empty slots to fill.

In other words; I'm worried that you will come out with cool new stuff that works with the 500 form and not the current chassis.

My other option is about 150 bucks for a blank enclosure and a DIY psu from somewhere else. I'm then paying 325 ish (with 2 T-15's) or so for this option. But...I'm then stuck start over with racks, psu's etc. when I expand in the future.

Please advise???
I like music.

We're currently planning an active DI and one more high-end mic preamp module for the CH01 chassis. We are not planning to discontinue any of the current products unless it becomes too difficult or expensive to obtain component parts. The new system we're working on will not be compatible with the current modules or chassis in any way, nor will the new modules work with 500 series backplanes. The new chassis and backplane will be able to accommodate existing 500 series modules, however, through the use of an adapter. Hope that helps in your decision making.

Is this new system (the new modules and chassis) going to happen in the near future (next few months)? Reasonably comparable pricing?

The 500 compatiblility would be nice, but can't wait too long...

Thanks,
Mike
