DIY 990 op amp? Has anyone used it?

Postby jlearman » Thu Mar 22, 2007 8:08 pm

Some of the guys over at the groupdiy forum have put together a kit to do a DIY 990 op amp. Here's the link:

Has anyone tried this? Tim, would you be able to tell fromt he schematic if this will work? My main concern is that Hardy's 990c is built to take a wide range of voltages (24v) but I'm not sure what this one will take. Just looking for some more options since john is backed up....and the price on these kits is great too!

Thanks,
Joe

Interesting, i just came across that on the prodigy forum. At $20 a pop it may be worth trying out. I ordered some 990c from john last Friday and he said he would have a new batch of 990's ready to ship on Wednesday.

I'm sure john has a great product, but he's told me "tuesday or wednesday" about 5 times now...so for 20 canadian, I'll build a pair myself. It would be interesting to do a comparison & see if they sound any different.

hmm, so it seems like i got some old fashion lip service. It would also be interesting to compare the DIY 990 to the opamps that came with the J99 kit. Try it out and let us know....
