You can't go by the printed schematic, check the silk screen on the PCB.

Version 1.3 C84 boards

The c84 silkscreen reads 1.3, so I'll be sure to reverse the phase switches until I solder some crossed wires to replace the zero ohm resistors.

C84s now in phase with N72s

Postby Ken Schumacher » Sat Feb 24, 2007 8:28 pm

Ken Schumacher \$m[1]:The C84 schematics for the kits I built was 1.3, so I am guessing the phase is reversed. The existing zero ohm resistors have been trimmed and can't be crossed. I assume I can just solder in crossed insulated jumper cables to make the phase right, and don't have to use zero ohm resistors. Correct? I would like the phase switch to report the correct setting. BTW, tonight I use the mic pres for the first time. Recording a jazz band on location, 24 tracks, two of which will use C84s. I'll make sure the phase switch is reversed for this gig.

I confirmed the older version C84s have backwards phase compared to my new N72s by looking at the waveforms in ProTools. I soldered cross connections on L1 and L2 using some leftover wire, and re-checked the phase and now all is in sync. The phase switches can now all point the same way!

Thanks Tim! Great kits.
