It's Alive!!!!

Postby deadboy » Sun Mar 26, 2006 10:36 pm

I just assembled the "minimal" J99 kit and hooked it up to the PS03.. The first time I fired it up , it worked!!! I wanted to thank Tim for this awesome site. The instructions and custumer service are fantastic. Anyone thinking about building the "J99" I say go for it.. I am not an experienced "diy". I built one guitar amp before this, but thats it. The PS02 I tried to build 6 months ago was harder than this.. I blew that thing up! But the J99 went along very smoothly. It has "TONS" of headroom and the detail is wayy better than my last presonus preamp.. I will be posting audio clips soon.. Thanks everyone!

I just finished mine last night, but have yet to pass any audio. Perhaps tonight. I'd love to hear a recording once you get a chance.

Hey guys I was wondering.... I am planning on buying a large dynamic mic. I have the choices down between a "EV-RE20 and a Shure SM7".. Which one would work the best with the J99?? Ya know with the whole impedance thing and all.

What are your goals with those two mics? I think the RE20 is more versatile than the sm7. I have both. The sm7 is great for vocals and the RE 20 is good for vocals and kick, bass, guitar, snare.
