Compare J99 to True Precision 8?

Hi--

Does anyone have any experience comparing the J99 pres to True Sytems Precision 8 mic pres? I have the latter, and find them extremely clean, detailed, and accurate, great for acoustic material such as vocals, acoustic guitar, etc. I've got a 7th Circle Neve pre, which is a little darker but also very detailed, and somehow more lush-sounding than the TP (True Precision) 8. I've no experience with the J99s, but the raves on this forum have me wondering . . .

Opinions on J99 versus TP 8 for acoustic material? Thanks!

I'm certainly not the best person to respond to this question, since I have not yet received my J99 (should arrive this week!). I have however used True's pre a fair amount. What I can say, is that the Precision 8 is a nice pre, but seems to me to be much closer to the descriptions I've read about the C84. The Precision 8 is an relatively fast, incredibly transparent design. Honestly, I think I'd be a tiny bit dissapointed if my J99 sounds too much like the True box. To me, it's nice, but a little bit boring. That being said, for $150, I'm pretty sure that there'll be a C84 in my future at some point.

I would be interested to see if my opinion is shared by any others.
