Mumetal shield and divider with PS02

Hi all, I am currently using the PS02 that I made a while ago and was wondering if the mu-metal shield that goes on the divider is necessary? There is still the shield over the transformer. I thought the shield was required if you use the PS03, because its a switching supply?
The reason I am asking is that it shield doesn't stick to the divider well often come loose toward the circuit boards. In the first position is a c84 that I made and I am worried that it may short out the circuit because the metal might touch the remaining leads, even though they are trimmed after I finish soldering them . I will post a picture to show what I am talking about.
Thanks for your input
