PS02 over voltage on J2 pin 5

Postby williamrussell » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:08 am

Everything went well once I found the additional pages to the instructions.

All voltage checks are good except pin 5.

I have 61 volts.

This power supply was built by your company. I only added the ground, Switch and Light.

The preliminary check for IEC checked good for (open and 16 ohms).

You must have one of the few PS02s that have a TL783 instead of an LM317HVT as the phantom regulator. If you put any kind of load on the phantom supply it'll settle to within specifications, but with no load the output voltage can rise. We didn't notice this at the time because we were only testing output voltage under full rated load. You can tack a 5.6K 1/2W resistor between pins 5 and 2 on J5 to provide a minimum load, or you can send it back and we'll take care of it.

Do you mean J2 Pin 5 and 2 of the PS02?

J5 of the PS02 has only 4 pins.

Please clarify
