PS03 - odd voltages

Hey everybody,

I'm concerned my PS03 isn't working properly. For starters, when I power it up with no modules connected, the LED's pulsate. It never looks like they are fully lit. Additionally, when I measure the voltages from the pins, I get voltages fluctuating around 2.4VDC where I should be seeing 30VDC, and I don't see any 48VDC either.

I just finished building my first n72, I was originally checking that for mistakes because I couldn't get a high enough voltage to properly bias it. I've checked my work on the n72, and I can't find any errors, so now I'm thinking it's the PSU. When I look at the PCB, a bunch of holes are left unfilled where it looks like there should be resistors, caps, etc...Is this normal?

Thanks in advance,

James

Sounds like you have a short. Did you see this post: http://seventhcirclestudios.com/SCA/php ... php?t=2104

Hi Tim-

Thanks, I did see that post. I don't think it's a short. I can't see any places where the PSU PCB is even close to the chassis. Also, I'm getting this voltages without any modules installed.

Thanks,

James

What happens with both the 6 pin and 2 pin connectors disconnected?

Here are the voltages from the PSU with only the 4 Pin connector from the on/off switch connected.

2 Pin (LED's)
pin 1: 0 VDC
pin 2: -7.8VDC

6 Pin
pin 1: 2.6VDC
pin 2: 0VDC
pin 3: -9.8VDC
pin 4: 0VDC
pin 5: 0VDC
pin 6: 0VDC

All the readings besides 0VDC fluctuated +/- .4VDC
