External PSU and multiple SCA Racks

Postby bekkstudio » Thu Jan 24, 2008 5:14 am

Hi

Ive been using 4 N72 and 2 A12 & 2 J99 for some years now and its my favourite pres for most uses.

I am considering building 2 more racks, 8pcs N72 and 8 A12 and various J99 & C84 for a total of 24 pres.

Iam been thinking about getting a xternal PSU because of the lesser noise and hum. and also because i then could maybe use a bigger versjon of the PSU02 with a bigger transformer and power all the 3 SCA racks.

Do you have a design for this or is it possible? i can have the Tranny made locally.

I reallly appreciate your work Tim!

Certainly possible, though you're on your own as far as the external supply goes. You'll need about 220VA of power all together.

HI Tim

I Have a Spare PSU02 laying around is it possible to modify it to give 220VA,

A Solution might be getting 3 psu03 and putting them in a external rack, alittle boring but a working solution.

Can u see the added benefit or am i nitpicking?

Best
