Just working through my first C84 build here and i've noticed a couple things. First of all, step 13:
Add electrolytic capacitors C4, C7, C20, C21, C23, C27, C29, and C30. C4 and C7 are
not polarized, but the rest are and must be installed the right way round! Be
absolutely sure to observe the correct polarity when installing these parts. The negative
leads of the electrolytic caps are marked with a colored stripe. The positive pads on the
circuit board are marked with a small "+" sign.
C21 has already been installed. It is one of 12 .1uF ceramic caps that is installed after the diodes. I believe what is meant to be said here is C22 as opposed to C21 as it is the proper 100uF/25V aluminium cap. Is this correct? Secondly, while C4 and C7 are specified as being bipolar, C23 and C30 are also bipolar. Or at least the ones that came in my kit are. Also there is no positive pad marking on the silk screening for these two caps.
The second, more confusing issue I've had is regarding C33/C37. They are silkscreened on the PCB, and I have the right components in the kit, but there is nowhere in the instructions that mentions these two caps. I also noticed that in all the pictures in the instructions there is nio place silkscreened for these two caps. Should I just go ahead and install them as per the silkscreen/BOM?
Cheers and thanks for the great kits Tim!
