PLEASE HELP!! U4 gets really HOT! 3x checked & cant fin

finished my a12 kit & was troubleshooting the board and i cant seem to get +14v @ u1. i can get the -14v but the + side starts a 60mV and slowly winds down to 14mV. also, the heatsink on u4 gets REALLY HOT!! i checked all diode and cap orientations & everything seems right. any ideas?

Check the polarity of C4 again. If you're absolutely sure it's installed correctly but you still get the same symptom, measure the resistance directly across the capacitor. Let us know what you find.

resistance measures .6 ohms. the other cap measures 1.67k ohms. that must be the problem. is there a way i could of fried the cap, or could it just be bad? thanks for answering tim.
p.s. the other 3 pre's i got, no problems & sound great!! thanks

Snip out C4 and see what happens. Don't bother trying to unsolder the part.

bought a new "c4" from digikey and now everything works great. strange!! WELL, besides waiting for the part i completed 4 kits in 2 days and everything works great. GREAT PRODUCT, tim. i already want to order more.
