Is A12 sutable for a bass preamp?

Hello everyone I am new here.
I am on a quest for a sweet bass preamp, I was told about charachter of A12 and that intrigues me. However it is a mic preamp now can it be changed as far as input and out to the power amp to make it an instrument pre?

I appreciate you input,

P.S. Would SCA consider adjusting the kit at time of ordering to accomodate these changes?

It works quite well using a passive D.I. box, with no modification to the A12.
