crosstalk?

I plugged in my 2 a12s yesterday and they work fine. i was running one mic into one channel, with both channels record enabled into my computer. i just plugged a mic into one at a time, so one channel was unterminated.

with both at full gain, i was getting pretty significant crosstalk. ill have to do some more testing to really narrow it down more, but ive never noticed anything like this with other preamps in the past. would the unterminated connection make a difference here? what is normal for crosstalk between the cards?

Yes, leaving the mic pre at Full gain with no input termination will make the input transformer act like an antenna. If you want to find out what the REAL crosstalk is between channels, with gain full, then install a 200-1000 ohm load on the input transformer of one channel and an oscillator on the other. Then you can make some realistic measurements.

cool. i remember i that at one point (with a diff. preamp in the past) i got all freaked out because the noise floor was so high. i didnt realize that there was such a thing as termination load...
