getting resistance of 6.9 on pins 1 and 2 of j7

im novice, so don't assume i know the basics. I'm getting a 6.9 where instructions say it should be 100 or over. am i really getting 690 ohms or something? I cant find any obvious bridges or shorts.

Maybe, but you're going to have to learn how to use your meter to find out. Try measuring a few resistors with widely different values to see how your meter handles the decimal point.
