u1 pin 4 to 3 measures 28.58v

Postby aphid310 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:17 pm

u1 at pin 4 to 3 measures 28.58v and messing with the trims does nothing to change it. pin 4 to 5 started at about -14v and i got it synced fine to -18v. all caps seems in correctly. all the diodes seem to be orientated correctly. rotated trims ccw till clicks. u2 and u3 are in there right. tried with lowest gain. fliped phantom and polarity switches. power pins give out high resistance. don't see any shorts or solder bridges. j5 jumpered. j3 and j4 are jumpered across pin 2 and 3. can't quite figure it out. seems to be exactly double the voltage than its suppose to be and no amount of trim work seems to help. any thoughts?

alright, seems r25 is bad. replaced it with one from the other kit and it seems to be working okay so far. guess i'll have to go hunt for a replacement. do most electronic stores carry it?

You should be able to get one locally if you're in a hurry. Please make sure that you haven't inadvertently swapped it for R19, however.

nah, it was a bad trimmer. that was one of the first things i thought too. i checked and measured the resistance of each pot with my dmm. r25 kept coming back as 0ohm so i knew it had to be it. gonna swing by fry's electronics on the way home tonight to see if i can score me one.

a tip to anybody who might be interested: i take some tape and go through the build of materials and label each part with its corresponding number. mostly the resistors. haven't had any mishaps yet because of it. saves time in the long run too not having to keep looking back at the sheet.
