You can get the stopper out.
I had to do the same thing.
The first way is to get some industrial strength 3m double-sided foad adhesive. Press a piece over the hole where the pin was and press with much force. THen, pull out slowly. You may have to stick/pull several times.
If the pin is too lodged in there, you can remove the nuts on the back of the switch and pull the pieces apart far enough to retrieve the pin. The, tighten it back and use some thread-lock to relock the threads.
If you lose the little pin a piece of resistor elad works fine too.
