Hot 990c

Postby debasah » Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:38 am

Hi all
Just finished my first j99 pre. It sounds great but the two 990s are hot to the touch. I have only left it on for 10 min or so. Is it normal for them to be so hot?
thank you

What voltages did you choose for U1 and U2 - around 24V? Did everything come up to about 14V when you set R28 and R32 to min and connected power initially? What about the measurements at U3?

That'd be the first place to look. I imagine with nearly 50V running through there they might get warm, but I'm not certain (someone correct me) that they should be really hot hot....

The point is not to make the changes, it's to play ideas in time - Scofield
