Op Amp Selection

Postby Geoff Waddington » Sat Jun 18, 2005 4:38 pm

Any thoughts on how to decide which op amps to go with ? I'm thinking of getting 4 pairs(A12 with Tim's op amp, C84, N72) and am wondering without the luxury of auditioning how to choose the opamps for the J99 to:
a) compliment the other pres in terms of flexibility / harmony
b) bring out the most from the servo design
Obviously very subjective, but any thoughts welcomed -- Thanks -- Geoff

I chose the John Hardy 990c. The J99 is a Dean Jensen design, intended for the 990 (also a Jensen design), so it makes sense. John Hardy is a nice guy, and his stuff is reasonably priced, but go price his 'Jensen Twin Servo' and you'll see the J99 is a great bargain. The John Hardy 990c is also a good value at about $50 each.
