I got the wrong output transformer?

Postby owel » Thu Mar 18, 2004 7:19 pm

I bought the minimal kit and purchased/scoured the parts separately....
(before I realized that a full parts kit of the N72 is available at SCA, without the chassis and misc stuff...)

Well, I just found out that the output transformer I bought is a VTB1148 (equivalent to the original Neve LO1166).... and not the VTB1847 in the N72 schematic diagram.

My transformer is huge... and no way can I mount this on the PCB. I'll have to mount this on the chassis but that's fine with me.

The question is can I still use this? Are the pin-outs the same as the VTB1847. Anyone?

Thanks,
Owel

Output transformer

Please see page 5 of the N72 assembly instructions for the recommended way to mount an LO1166 to the board. It's the same transformer as the VTB1847, just with a different clamp and terminals instead of flying leads. Basically, you modify the clamp, remove the terminals, and extend the leads to reach the board. The pinout is the same as well.

Thank you. This is the info I need. I think I'll just mount it on the chassis beside the PCB ... don't want to screw (no pun intended) it up.
