Necessary to use Thermal Grease and Isolator Pad?

Hi, I noticed on the build you don't specify using a pad on the transistor and regulator, nor thermal grease.

My understanding was you are always supposed to use these as the regulator backing is not grounded and could cause a short. In fact in another DIY project I did, I damaged my power supply when I failed to use the pad and grease.

So, am I right in assuming that you have designed these boards NOT to need the grease or isolation pads on the regulators and large transistor?

Thanks,

Mike

No pad or grease necessary. Just make sure the heat sink does not contact the chassis when you install the module.

Perfect; I figured you wouldn't have just forgotten something so vital.

I'm taking the extra time to install pads and grease, because I feel it will help heat transfer/reduce potential problems and extend the life of these amazing preamps.

Thanks,

Mike
