Neutrik Combo Jack XLR/TRS for output?

Has anyone swapped out the output XLR jacks with the neutrik combo jacks? My interface needs quarter inch trs inputs and i didnt want to bother with adapter cables.

if it is easily switchable? and is so which neutrik jack did you use? they have so many models on their site.

You'd need circuit-board-mount jacks with the same pinouts as the standard jacks, unless you want to do circuit board surgery at the same time. Whether such a beast exists is the question. My experience with Neutrik Combos is that they have separate pins for the XLR and TRS (I wired the wall panels in my studio with them; I soldered a lot of teeny jumpers!) which would mean that they don't have the same pinouts.

If you can find exact matches, with the TRS and XLR internally jumpered, it would be trivial (save for desoldering the standard XLRs if you already mounted them.) Otherwise, it would be far better just to use adapters, IMHO.

Unless you already have your TRS 1/4" Cables, then it is just a matter of using 1/4" to XLR cables (no adaptors - just a hardwired cable with 1/4" TRS on one end and a XLR on the other). These are readily available at any worthy Pro-Audio dealer.

If you already have 1/4" to 1/4" TRS cables, it is as simple as chopping off one of the ends, and soldering on XLR's instead MUCH easier than modding the PCB (and removing ALL of the modules, etc) IMO... You can use the remaining "Bastardized" 1/4" TRS plugs for other 1/4" to XLR cables.
