Pres for fieldrecording

Hello!

Just heard a 2 channel SCA pre (can´t remember which model) and was impressed. And I was even more impressed when I heard the price and how simple it was to put together.

So, of course I want one now! The thing is, I do alot of fieldrecordings and would really need a battery option for my preamps..

Is there a way to make a batterypowered 2ch preamp from any of the SCA models? Also, how small can I go with the construction of such a device?
