Tantalum Capacitor Polarity Confirmation (Picture)

Postby hduncan » Sun Dec 27, 2009 1:32 am

Hey everyone! I build a T15, an A12, and an N72 over the last 4 days and just want to make sure that I've been assembling the board right. The only component I've been a little unsure about are the Tantalum Capacitors. I realized that the other capacitors have a stripe with rectangles signifying negative running down the side, but the tantalums don't.

This is what I've been using to tell polarity on the tantalums..

Is this correct for all of the tantalums used in the SCA kits?

yes, as you can see, there is a positive "+" sign towards the right leg. I might be wrong, but that line usually signifies the positive side as well.

Correct. The "+" sign and stripe indicate the positive lead. When in doubt about any part, you can google the part number and get all the data you want: http://www.kemet.com/kemet/web/homepage ... DipRad.pdf
