Metering design

Postby MLAudio » Tue May 11, 2010 7:54 am

I am in the process of designing a logarithmic LED VU meter for the chassis for those interested. It is actually two designs one with a signal presence and peak led and one with a 6-8 led bar scale. The latter peak current is about 125 mA DC. My question is: Will the power supply be able to handle the extra load of (125 mA x 8 = 1A) of 1 amp, assuming a fully loaded chassis? The bar graph can be put into dot mode (meaning the LEDs scale up and light one at a time only) also, which would save a lot of current draw.
