So, I am looking to build a SCA kit.

I already know what pre's I want, my question is how should I route them. At the moment I have a Digi 002R. What would be the best way to route the channels of the Pres to the 002R. Do I have to get a A/D Converter and go that way....or can i use the first 4 channels of the digi that has their pre amps and then the next 4 line in channels. That would give me 8.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. (besides dumping the 002)

I don't know the 002R specifically but I went through an enlightening process while trying to figure out where to send the SCA preamps output to. At first I planned on connecting the SCA pres to the mixer input channels line in. Ends up that most less expensive mixers or A/D boxes with mic preamps and line inputs just attenuate the line input and run it back through the mic pre using the same gain or trim control. As it ended up the best place to input the SCA pres on a Mackie 24*8 is into the tape inputs (balance input with no gain). When I don't need the mixer I just run the SCA pres straight to the ADC.
