So I've been milling around a bit, and reading up on things and I've noticed two main things; the two kits that seem to be the most prefertial are the N72, and the A12... I suspect because they're the Neve and API clones and that's a generally sought after sound (duh).
My question however, is I am looking to do a 4 channel kit for drums and vocals - so I'd like it to do double duty, however, I'm also looking to keep it afforadable as I want to add this to a documentary about DIY studio work, and making a professional record from a home studio - thus a DIY high end pre kit is a great alternative to expensive pre's. The drums are simply 2 overhads (Mojave MA-100's) and a kick and a snare...maybe some toms but the Mojave's do such an awesome job I don't really mic the toms, which is neither here nor there. The vocals are all over the place from rock to hip hop to Celiene and Mariah vocals.
I don't see the T15's mentioned very often, and was considering 2 T15's, a N72 and a A12...or 4 T-15's, or maybe even 2 T-15's, a 84, and a N72 or A12.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
