Question about up and coming Active DI kit.

Postby reypina » Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:09 pm

Hi all. I was wondering how is the announced "coming soon" active DI module going to fit in the CH01 chassis. I wonder what kind of connections and features will be available in it. I would guess that an input, parallel output(unprocessed signal), a mic output, and possibly a line out will be provided. Also, I hope you guys provide a ground lift. How would these features fit in the current [holes] space privided in the chasis? :?:

I love the SCA stuff I have now, and can't way for new things to arrive!!

Cheers!

The plan is to have the 1/4" instrument jack on the front panel and a pair of transformer-coupled floating outputs on the rear. Front panel controls will be stepped gain, polarity invert (on one output only), and input pad. Input impedance will be jumper selectable. A ground lift isn't needed because both outputs float.

Does that mean that both outputs will be line level signals? I would hope that the DI give you a mic level output so you can use it with your favorite, or most desired for a particular situation, flavor of preamplification.
Also, and admittedly I ask because of my lack of knowledge, in what situation would you want/need to invert the phase of an instrument?javascript:emoticon(':?')

Thanks Tim, for taking time to answer our questions.

All the Best,
