All 1/4 watt 1% Metal Film Resistors Equal?

I bought a replacement resistor at the local
electronics supply; it's 1/4 Watt 1% Metal Film
but it's obviously not the same manufacturer.

Are there qualitative differences between the
manufacturers that would affect performance?

Should I only replace the resistor with the same
brand?

Not exactly equal, especially if you're planning to send your circuit to the bottom of the ocean or into orbit, but equal enough. I'm sure your metal film resistor will work fine.
