organic solder

Postby cwalcott » Tue May 15, 2007 12:20 pm

hey all, i'm in the planning stages right now. haven't built anything yet but will be making my first order soon.

i have a question about solder. i've build more than a dozen MOTM synth modules over the last few years and one of the things that they do is use organic solder for all the washable parts like resistors, caps, power connector, etc. it's nice because you get to wash all the excess flux/rosin off the board. the solder is also easier to work with than no-clean.

does this make sense for SCA projects?

Use rosin core if you like, but "no-clean" is actually easier to clean than rosin.
