Hum issue

Postby craigmorris74 » Mon Jan 16, 2006 11:05 am

Just put together an A12 and it sounds great. I'm experiencing a bit of a problem though. I made a new connector for 8 modules to replace the one I made first for just one module.
I'm currently using the new connector to connect the A12 and an N72. With the new connector, I'm getting a low level hum and hiss in the N72. The hum is there even when I unplug the A12. When I went back to my old connector, the N72 doesn't hum at all. I can't detect a substantial difference in the A12.

Anything I could be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Craig

went back and attached another plug to my original cables, soldering each connection, and it still hums. This occurs when the input and output all the way down and with or without a mic connected. I have also tried connecting to balanced and unbalanced sources.

Obviously, since it works with one cable and not the other there's something going on with the cable. It sounds like an open AGND pin. Check all your crimps, and make sure the contacts are properly inserted into the housings.
