Transformer options

Hi.

I am very interested in this comp as a suplement to my diy 1176. The 1176 is the only hardware comp I have any real experience with, but I really like the way it ads its own sound to the signal. How do you think the transformer coloration from the different transformers for B16 sounds compared to the 1176? Will it be a usefull alternative or should i instead order the B16 without transformer to have a cleaner comp to suplement the 1176? I know I am asking for subjective opinions, but since I´m shooting in the dark any info regarding the sound would be extremely helpfull. Thanks!

Rent a dbx 160 and see how much it sounds like your 1176. No matter what transformer you put on the B16, it's always going to be a very different animal.
