SCA T15 vs Neve

Postby rhythminmind » Wed Sep 03, 2008 11:32 am

For the fun of it a decided to compare my newly assembled 8 channel SCA T15's against a Neve MIOS 96 Quad Pre.
I put a my coworker on the spot and asked him if he would help me & pop into the vocal booth & sing something. So he did. :)

Can you guess what pre is what?

Good sound on both. Must say that I prefer pre 1, and to my ears, sounds like the T15, from the little I've been able to use mine so far. The other (Neve?) sounds somewhat boxier, but still nice.

Sounds like the first one is the t15.

I prefer the sound of the second one, probably because I use a neve pre and I am used to how it sounds. If for some reason the second one is a t15, then I should probably use one, because I like the sound of the second one the best.

what is the mic used, is there any comp, eq or gate going on there? Any hp filtering?

Also this guy sounds baritone-ish, close to the tone of my voice, so to me the neve stood out, or I'm crazy and I should buy a t15.

there's my two cents,
great job, that was fun.
