and i already have a question

i figured out how to read the resistors and all that but how do you place them on the board?? I found the r14 in the bag and it goes green blue etc etc do you place the first color listed in the material page left to right? so it sits on the board green blue red black brown or does it go brown black red green blue??? i guess a pretty simple question but my first time and i dont want to blow up these things

once again thanks for all help

Don't matter how resistors sit. As long as they are the correct ohmage, just throw them in there. Most other pieces you have to watch polarity.

Neatniks and pedants (such as myself) like to place them all the same way. It helps promote attention to detail, and it also makes it easier to check your work later. I do something similar with all unpolarized parts.

I got all my resistors on and i check them all with my multimeter some are exact some are off by 5-10 and a few off by 40-50 is this normal and in tolerence??

The allowed error is expressed as a percentage of the rated value, so the error is meaningless without reference to the part value and tolerance. For example, a 1K 5% resistor should measure anywhere between 950 and 1050 ohms. A 1K 1% resistor should measure between 990 and 1010 ohms. So a 100 ohm resistor that is "off by 50" is really bad, but a 10K resistor that's off by the same amount is really good.

Note that if you're measuring them in-circuit, you're going to get lower readings due to resistances in parallel. If you are going to verify them with an ohmmeter (a good idea) you need to do this *before* installing them.

I just tested them all and they all seem to be in spec
