im thinking about investing in two racks of pres from this company. idealy it would be a full rack of N72s, and another with 6 A12s, and 2 J99. im starting to do a lot of sessions in the bands practice spaces and need quality pres in a portable package. i usually borrow a friends brent averils, and some of his 512s, but i want my own. id like to know from SCA on what kind of price we're talking for the complete kits, and if theres any chance of a demo unit available to try? id love hear more from everyone else about how these pres sound.
thanks

Try this:
http://www.seventhcirclestudios.com/SCA/SCA.htmand click on "price and ordering".
That shows all the prices you are looking for. If there's no price of an item, that item is simply not available.....
Soon to find out!

ehh no offence, but .....asking questions right here would be the smarter thing IMO, because the designer and builder of the kit will read it and maybe answer it.
point taken.

Excellent - any surprises? What's your impression? If you like them, be sure to tell the DUC...

I am kinda chicken in this. It took me about an hour to built the caurage to actually hook up the ps02 and test it. But it all went smooth. I also tested both my n72's up to the point i could fine calibrate with a scope, wich i will do tomorrow.
I also have to drill holes and stuff in the steel casing i got, wich i see as a bigger hurdle as the soldering itself.
Digikey did an axcellent job in delivering the goods. The only thing they messed up was swapping the 2 3-pin connectors for the grounding (J3 & J4) for a pack of 5 56K resistors. The rest was as described on the BOM (Wich is a compliment to myself too i guess, because i typed everything in by hand...)
Next time i will do the simple thing, and get everything from Tim. I think i maybe saved $10 or so...and thats not really the trouble to be honest. I got the minimal kits because i could simply go to the shop here and get all the components i needed, but that was not the case. Then i found out Digikey also operates in the Netherlands...
For a timeframe: The soldering took me all day. That's the PS02 and 2 N72's. I tried not to rush and work neat. I guess that payed off, because everything worked right from the get-go. If i would have had the CH01 then i think everything would be together by now, because then its only a case of screwing the PCB's into the chassis, and hooking it up. Now i still have to figure out a way to put it in the box i got (also a 2 HE box) and drilling all the holes. If there's something i am NOT good at its stuff like this...so this could take some cosiderable time and effort.....

Thanks for the report, and good luck on the tedious mechanical stuff.
I haven't gotten to fine-calibrating mine with a scope, but just adjusting to Tim's nominal voltage setting sounds great.

Today i decided to hook up a mic and try it. It works! And for what i heard just now i sounded very nice and crisp and airy, but what i did can hardly be described as thorough testing. I hooked up an SM58, and the out of the N72 directly to my active monitor.
Does anybody knows how and where to hook up some VU-meters? Thanks!
