A pre with a an insert for a compressor would be nice.

I think Tim has said before that he has no plans on doing an EQ or Compressor. I sure would buy one if he did :) .

Bloo makes some nice stuff as far as the DIY LA2a is concerned.

There will be a DI and perhaps another preamp module, but that's it. Any products beyond that won't be compatible with the CH01 or PS03, and they definitely won't be kits.

How about a 2U rack case for 2 modules w/ power supply?

Don't you mean a 1U case? What do you think such a chassis should cost? Would you still be interested if it cost as much as the 2U chassis?

I think that it would be a bargain at roughly the same price at the current rack. If you look at a 1U enclosure for, say, 2 of the N72s or 2 of the J99s you've got a 2 channel mic pre for $949 that rivals similar pres at twice that price. You might also sell a 1U kit to someone who then decides they want more, so they upgrade to the 2U. You made more money.
But for those that only want 1 channel or 2 at the most, the 2U enclosure will always look like a job unfinished.

Given the dimensions of the boards, I would think it also might be possible to fit four in a 1u box as well. since all the boards are essentially 3.5 inches tall, five of them (4 pres and the power supply) should fit in the width of the case(?). To me, either a two or four would be great, but a four would be preferred.

Oh man, please please please make a parametric for us. Please!!!!!

I've been looking for a while now for a great sounding eq and all I can find is either really expensive or build your own from alot of parts sourcing and design headaches.

Tim if you made one, and maybe I'm asking too much since I've heard that you have said that you won't, but if you did, as well as a decent compressor it would fill out your kits so well.

Imagine being able to combine any of the preamp kits with peq, comp and even a DI!!! Man that would be killer.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erik.

The only EQ I'm interested in doing would essentially be digital with a very high-quality, transformer-coupled signal path. Completely recallable, resettable, and automatable, with a VST plug-in control interface and nothing but a few LEDs on the front panel. Not compatible with the CH01 or PS03, and definitely not a kit. Whaddaya think of that?

That sounds very cool to me. I'd love to see more hardware manufacturers thinking like this. Plug-ins often don't have the sound, but once you get used to working that way, it's tough to go back to the set it and forget it mentality.

I got four modules in a little 1u case. I decided to build a seperate enclosure for the power supply which allows me to get the pres several feet away from the PS.

Tim, just a big thumbs up for your idea.

It would be very nice indeed to marry the best from discrete, transformer coupled designs with relay switching recall, a GUI editor. Very nice indeed.

You make it, I buy it =P

DI that doubles as a reamp. Something akin to Little Labs redeye.
