what pre would suit me best?

i am looking to buy a preamp for the purpose of recording my vocals... check out my style of music at myspace(dot)com/snakesofeden. I am wanting to get a recommendation on the type of pre I should invest in to have my rock vocals recorded as good as possible.
Finally what are some of the AD converters that you guys are using for these pres? I would be looking for something high quality (willing to spend between $400-$800 US)... featuring 2 inputs, preferably PCI based and MIDI IO.
