Hi,
I'M about to purchase and built a T-15 which will be my first project. If all goes to plan I intend to fill a whole chasis with different Seventh circle pre's but I'M wondering if I should consider filling a chasis with one pre x8 as well for drums? Can anyone give me advice with drums? Are there certain pre's that work better with certain drums?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Alex

Usually you hear about API being the choice for drums because of "punch" and "air", whatever that means so the A12 would be what you'd want for that.

I think the top 2 designs for drums are the A12 and the N72. Both sound wonderful on drums. If you are leaning toward the API camp, fill the rack with A12s. They have attack and punch for days. If you are leaning toward the Neve sound, grab some N72s, they sound big and fat. I have a rack with 2 A12s and 4 N72s and currently use the A12 on snare and inside kick with N72s on outside kick and toms. I currently use Langevin A-4s for overheads but in the world of SCA, I would use J99s if I had them. Of course if I had more A12s, I might be inclined to use them for toms as well. Oh, and on distorted guitars, the N72 rules the world.
