I am planning my rack situation and want to make sure I have enough slots (but not too many!) and I need to know if I should be including enough room for an empty space above and below the SCA chassis or if its cool for me to mount everything flush. Thanks!

You need to leave one open space above the chassis. Don't mount it above something that runs especially hot. Don't block the vent holes and make sure air can flow through the rack.
