IM in Montreal. Basically you should send it via USPOST. and you wont get charged brokerage fees. You will pay tax on whatever the item is valued at.

It was a simple transaction for me.

best of luck

On an N72 mic preamp, which ends up at $482.10 CDN, will have a charge of $79 applied to it when shipped via USPS. There seems to be no other way around it. Makes these mic preamps a touch expensive for us.

What? I thought SCA ONLY sent UPS. Not USPS.

I wished they would send USPS as UPS brokerage fees are outrageous. It's stopping me from buying one. Waiting until I am in the States again.

I can't stand UPS and their high brokerage fees.

I though SCA only shipped by UPS as well. I'm surprised to see people tlking about shipments through regular post.

I paid a fairly hefty brokerage fee to get my chassis and 3 N72's when I ordered them. I don't remember the exact amount without looking it up though.

But one thing is certain.... I hate UPS Canada as well. Thieves really. The brokerage fees are always a drag but UPS seems to take the crown at making it even more outrageous.

I love my SCA pre amps though... that for certain as well.

UPS is convenient for the shipper but not for the recipient. Unfortunately they take unfair advantage of us Canadians when we receive items from the U.S. but sometimes we have no choice. I guess the bright side is, it might be a good excuse to buy more than 1 pre at a time to save on brokerage fees?!

Drive across the border and clear it yourself. There are companies that charge you a small fee to use their shipping address and hold items until you pick it up. This is not a reality for those in mid to upper Canada.

I will NEVER use UPS. Previous poster was right. Thieves.

I am having mine shipped to Bellingham USA. I can take the wife for lunch and fill up with gas.

I ordered 4 X A12, 2X N72 and , 2 J99 A full box.

I paid an additional $568.00 total. $88.00 was brokerage fees, the rest was taxes. I live in Timmins, Ontario. I found out later that if I went with UPS air, they would have covered the brokerage fees for me and it was around the same price. I should also point out that my package was shipped on May 02, and I got May 14th

'm not complaining anymore it is what it is. Besides,
I got me 8 kick ass pre-amps baby!

I was shocked at first though.

I got mine today in Vancouver and didn't realize the brokerage fee would be so high. I also thought the only option was UPS.
Avoid it if you can.
My kit cost me $728 (chassis- power -A12 and D11). the taxes and brokerage fees were $205 on top of that. Brokerage fee was $73.85 and the rest taxes. Looks like the tax is on the full amount before discount too which blows.
I shoudl have got more modules now knowing this.
Next time I'll probably take it over the border myself and just pay tax or make sure I'm there long enough so it's under my exemption allowance. ($400 after 48 hours- $750 after 7 days or more)

I'm stoked I got it and can't wait to build and use it but feeling a little ripped off by "brown"

You need to complain about that. The invoice total and the declared value are always equal to the after-discount price. We can easily send duplicate paperwork if you need it.

Not sure if it's possible for you Tim but for us Canadian customers it would be good if the invoice only reflected the amount we paid.

I took this up with UPS and they denied any wrong doing and after several emails back and forth and I finally got this conveniently enough on the day it was too late:

UPS:
"Your shipper has provided two values for this shipment. One is the Declared Value for carriage, in the amount of $728 USD, and the other is Declared Value for Customs, in the amount of $1054 USD. The Declared Value for Customs is the amount used to rate your shipment.

Please note, today, July 14th, is the last day to have a re-rate done with a corrected commercial invoice from your shipper.

For your reference, UPS can correct any customs related information on your entry documents for a shipment valued at less than $1,600. The error must be identified on or before the 10th of the month following the shipping date.

If the declared value used is incorrect, the shipper may fax an amended invoice to the attention of Rerates at 1-506-447-3869. The invoice must indicate the tracking number and the corrected value. The deadline for this option is July 14th. A $5.00 fee applies for this service.
