Clipping at -8 dB BFS

Postby mojojo » Thu Apr 16, 2009 10:36 am

I bought a T15 on eBay and unfortunately, it’s too late to return it. Here’s the problem. I noticed some distortion when recording a simple VO. Looking at the waveform, I noticed clipping at 8 dB below full scale. I fed a sine wave into a Countryman direct box to give it a mic load, then into the T15. I tried different variations of signal strength, gain stages and fader positions (full fader pot), but no matter what I do, the signal starts to clip at 8 dB below full scale. Increasing the gain just makes the clipping more severe. The output never gets above 8 dB below full scale. Any suggestions?

Go through steps 27 through 32 of the assembly instructions and let us know what you find.
