T15 Rev 1.6

Postby DPLight » Tue Mar 12, 2019 5:34 pm

I just received a T15 kit today. Decided to go ahead and build it before I lose the parts (Grandchildren on the loose). To my surprise the circuit board came with the resistors, diodes, and all but 2 capacitors prestuffed, and the gain switch stops already set. I started printing the build instructions and started loaded parts as the pdf was printing. I was done with the build before the pdf (16 pages) printed. I do plan to go through and verify the prestuffed parts and check it against the schematic, before I test. Since so much was already done, I was hoping the XLR backpanel screw holes were already tapped. No such luck. I like the C84's I have and hope the T15 is sonically similar. I want to get one more if it does, very soon.

The new T15 is now in the rack and operating. Have not done a lot with it yet, but it seems to be what is advertised. Ordered another one.

I've been building these kits for YEARS and never had a problem until I tried this new v1.6 T15.

It's like you said, there is nothing to do except mount the pots, the XLR's, the IC's, one transistor, the two voltage regulators (yes, I doubled checked correct placement) and a couple of caps.

Mine went up in smoke the minute I powered it up - R40 and R41 both fried.
All the online information, the BOM, schematic and assembly instructions are for v 1.5 - the two resistors that fried, R40 and R41, are not on the 1.5 schematic.

They are not related to the 48v phantom power supply, that much is clear, but I did have a condenser plugged in when I applied power. I have the newer CH02 chassis.

I have two of these, and have not powered up the other yet before checking with @CODEMAN015.

SOLVED:
I had turned U2 around backwards on one of the two T15's I have - it's seated correctly and working like a champ, thanks to Cory (CODEMAN) for the great support!
